This comprehensive renovation breathes new life into a classic home in the heart of Madrid. What was once a dark, compartmentalized space is now an open, bright, and fluid home, combining respect for tradition with the functionality required by modern living. A way has been sought to preserve the essence of the space, intelligently adapting it to the changing habits of its occupants.
NEED
The main challenge was adapting a stately home to the new lifestyles of an active family, whose members spend much of their time away for work and seek a home that is an efficient, well-maintained, and private place to relax.
The goal was to transform a traditional apartment into a contemporary retreat where the spaces and logistics of daily life functioned naturally and discreetly.
APPROACH
The proposed intervention reorganizes the home to effectively meet current usage requirements: an open, connected living and dining area; a functional kitchen that allows for the use of domestic staff without invading the residents’ privacy through lacquered wood sliding doors; bedrooms designed to maximize order and relaxation with built-in wardrobes and indirect lighting; bathrooms optimized with durable, easy-to-maintain materials; and internal pathways defined by clear entrances and printed thermo-lacquered glass partitions to prevent intrusive views.
SOLUTION
The renovation is structured around a rational layout that facilitates everyday life and ensures an efficient and comfortable home experience, free from artificiality. Interior design solutions were incorporated to allow the owners to enjoy each space at its best, without interruptions or effort.
It was necessary to create an architecture that not only looks good, but also responds to a new way of living: more dynamic, more demanding, and more personalized.
